Tristan Driessens & Robbe Kieckens are colleagues for 15 years and have immersed themselves in the world of classical Ottoman music and other Eastern musical traditions. They have performed side by side in a number of ensembles, including the Lâmekân Ensemble and the Soolmaan Quartet. In 2019, the duo released their critically acclaimed debut album Blue Silence, earning them the prestigious “Charles Cros price” in the world music category. The album presents Tristan Driessens’ compositions: a crossroads of the musical paths the duo has traveled, from Turkish-Persian music to European folk and modal jazz.
