DIDAR

Shahab Azinmehr: tar, setar, vocals,
Tristan Driessens: oud,
Farid Kheradmand: tombak, daire, vocals, arrangments.

A unique collaboration between three masterful musicians from Brussels and Teheran, presenting original compositions and timeless pieces from the rich heritage of Persian and Ottoman music.

Didar is a Persian word meaning “encounter.” The music of Shahab Azinmehr, Tristan Driessens and Farid Kheradmand ranges from dastgah music of Iran and makam traditions of its’ neighboring countries, as well as a touch of early European music. With a wide range of accompanying plugged and percussion instruments like tar, setar, oud, bendir and tombak, Didar presents a program of traditional as well as original instrumental pieces and songs, including powerful improvisations based on the mystical poetry by Omar Khayyam, Rumi and others.
